Ready to learn the violin, or have a child who's asking for lessons? Great!
I am Peggy Nogle-Mott. I have many years of playing and performing skills to share, and more than thirty years of teaching young and adult violinists to play this demanding, rewarding and amazing instrument. Want to play fiddle music, too? I have hundreds of tunes!
Are you already a violinist? I will work with you to continue your progress.
LESSONS HAVE BEGUN! Contact me for details!
You'll find updates and lots of my lesson photos and videos on my friendly Facebook page. Once you’re on Facebook, go to https://www.facebook.com/PeggysLessons?mibextid=LQQJ4d and my lesson page should pop up with a shot of beautiful Anyra playing in the youth symphony (See below). Facebook has been challenging lately directing friends to the right page…
Watch this space for my students’ all-violin ensemble: SimplyViolinz. Rehearsals ongoing this summer into the fall. Classical, cinematic, and fiddle tunes are all on their play list. Admission will be free!
My students have played violin in Gig Harbor's Peninsula Youth Orchestra, Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia - SOGO - as well as in school orchestras, small ensembles and as solo performers. One twelve year old student attended the very selective Interlochen summer program for two years. There he became friends and performed with young string players from around the world. He also enjoyed playing Mozart with the youth orchestra as level winner of their concerto contest.
My students consistently receive top scores in solo competition. I have taught many students from military families. These students learn to play and to strive for excellence, and then take their skills to far-flung places...So gratifying!
Twice a year, my students present an all-student recital -- a great opportunity to show off ones progress to a friendly, supportive audience!

I have worked as a freelance solo and orchestral violinist and instructor in both CA and WA. My teacher was the late Edward Seferian, a Julliard Masters graduate who studied under Galamian, Persinger, and Gingold.
Beginning at 15, I performed with the Tacoma Symphony for four years with internationally ranked soloists such as Marni Nixon, Michael Rabin and Leonard Rose, furthering my study of music at Washington State University on scholarship as a music major.
I worked as a freelance professional violinist in the CA Bay Area for fifteen years: individually, as an orchestra musician, in a duo with harpist as "Elegance", with various pianists and with prominent guitarist Daniel Roest. I played in Ben Vereen’s stage orchestra and performed for visiting French educators at Santa Clara University. In addition to performance as a chamber musician with the Telemann Society and in various chamber ensembles, I have extensive experience as a church musician. I have coached string players in a middle school orchestra.
As a performer, I play classical, popular, liturgical and Western European traditional (Celtic) music. When not busy with students, I have fun performing with a piano trio.
I play a Whedbee violin with a silver-mounted Justin Poirson bow circa 1900. [Update: I'm now playing with a Buthod bow.]
My emphasis as a violin instructor for 30 years has been to introduce young people to the joy of violin playing while equipping them to meet a high technical standard. I assist my students in achieving excellence in intonation, tone, and musicality. Each student is encouraged to share his or her unique musical gift with the audience
